Dee Dickinson

 

Photo of Dee Dee Dickinson is CEO and founder of New Horizons for Learning, has been a school administrator and has taught on all levels from elementary school through university, has produced several series for educational television, and has produced nine international conferences on education. She also produced the Day One video for new parents as their child's first teachers.

Formerly, she was director of the Seattle Creative Activities Center, vice-president of the International Accelerative Learning Association based at the University of Rio de Janeiro, founder of the Northwest Art Project, and children's theatre director. She serves on a number of local, national, and international boards including the University of Washington's College of Education, KCTS TV, People of America Foundation, National Urban Alliance for Effective Education, Teachers Without Borders, Child Research Net (Japan), and The Learning Forum/SuperCamp. She is a Fellow of the George Lucas Educational

Foundation and the International Corporate Learning Association, and is an internationally recognized speaker, author, and consultant to educational organizations.

She has been the recipient of the Maverick Award by the Washington Governor's Leadership Institute, the Annual Leadership Award by the Citizens Education Center, the Dorothy Stimson Bullitt Award for Community Service, and the Mary Harriman Leadership Award from the Association of Junior Leagues International.

Her report Positive Trends in Learning: Meeting the Needs of a Rapidly Changing World was commissioned and published by IBM, and her book Creating the Future: Perspectives on Educational Change was published by Accelerated Learning Systems in England. She edited the New Horizons for Learning online Journal and is co-author with Linda Campbell and Bruce Campbell of the educational bestseller Teaching and Learning Through Multiple Intelligences, published by Allyn and Bacon in the most recent edition, 2004.
