Population Special Educ 504 Title I/LAP ESL 668 85 7 0 24 Project Description:
Project involves team teaching of general ed. and special ed. students by two teams in core classes that integrate language arts, literature, and social studies. The project will expand the program from the current two teams in the school to two teams per grade level. At the present time, the school also has three team-taught math classes.Challenges:
Challenges include lack of time to develop/prepare for individual needs, lack of training in working with diverse learning needs of students, and lack of time to develop content criteria aligned with essential learnings.Needs:
Needs include training and inservice around instructional activities including accommodations and modifications; IDEA requirements; framework for working together in teams; observing and coaching peers; and establishing student outcomes in core academic areas and benchmarks.Strengths of Site:
Strengths include current team's integration of both general ed. and special ed. Strong child focus and participation with student-led conferences and goal setting. Willingness of staff to spend extra hours per week to develop successful research based strategies and practices within student outcomes of core academic content.Evaluation:
Evaluation of student outcomes will be focused on reading and written language.
