Project Description:
Inclusive school practices are currently in place. Program involves developing an assessment system that will result in a prescriptive direct instruction for individual students who have not mastered essential learning skills. Looking at an after school model and summer school model to provide additional assistance to students. Currently using a one-on-one tutoring program for first grade students identified at risk for reading deficits. The program goal is to expand the intervention program to special education students. Assessments will be curriculum based to provide data on student mastery of essential learnings.

Challenges:
Challenges include lack of time and the need for funds to purchase assessment programs to implement the development of the individualized direct instruction program for identified special education students in an inclusive setting.

Needs:
Needs include teaming and training for inclusive general education teachers. Also need materials to strengthen their ability to assess student needs in order to provide prescriptive instruction.

Strengths of site:
Strengths include data driven documentation and correlation with state and district assessments. Parents provide 90 hours of volunteer time within choice centered site. These schools in the district have documented results of WASL for all fifth grade students. Broad depth of involvement in extracurricular projects and activities. School/parent partnerships in place with strong communication piece.

Evaluation:
Evaluation of student outcomes will be focused on reading, writing, and math.
