Portfolio Practices: Lessons from Schools Districts, and States
by Sandra Murphy and Terry Underwood
Christopher-Gordon, 2000
ISBN: 1929024185

This is an extremely useful guide to the use of portfolios both for those just beginning to use this important educational tool as well as for more experienced educators. It includes a variety of real-world examples of portfolio programs in action, including background as well as eight different portfolio programs, each illustrating a particular set of issues. These are programs developed in numerous school districts. In the final chapter, there is a practical discussion of how to develop one's own portfolio system.
