Writing Time:  Writing Strategies that Achieve Results
by Jean Azemove

Jean Azemove has worked as a K-12 language arts/creative dramatics specialist, a high school art teacher, an educational consultant and a 1-6 elementary teacher. During her years in the urban elementary classroom, Jean developed an extremely successful writing program called Writing Time. This informative book is filled with more than 250 failure-free activities and suggestions for helping students at all ability levels. In it are useful strategies for elementary, ESL, Special Education and secondary teachers. Parents as well will find helpful information.
Is it really possible to help students meet current writing standards and enjoy themselves at the same time?  Jean shows us how by incorporating skills in short periods at relevant times. She discusses how to structure the writing program from the very beginning, scaffolding students' achievement  by building on success, expanding the program, refining skills, and developing the potential of each individual. She notes that "the basic premise of the book is that students learn to write by writing. The teaching strategies in this program will help to motivate all your students to write fluently, gain spelling/writing skills, think creatively, develop positive attitudes about themselves and about writing, and learn to read.  There is no chance for failure in this program."

The book can be ordered through Writing Time, PMB #68, 13 Central Way,
