The Creativity Force In Education, Business, and Beyond
by Berenice Bleedorn
Galde Press, Inc., May 2002
ISBN: 1880090570

Berenice Bleedorn, founder and director of the Institute for Creative Studies, has been a consultant and teacher of creating thinking and problem-solving for over thirty years. Her book The Creativity Force points out with great urgency the need for these skills in a world with escalating numbers of problems that have no apparent solution. She points out that in addition to mastering basic skills and knowledge, today's students must develop open, flexible minds and the tools of creative problem-solving.

She urges that "transition to new ways of thinking needs to move beyond pronouncements to practice, and from good intentions to bold and specific action." She also observes that educational systems today must honor diversity and help students to build on their individual identity and strengths and learn to use such practical and innovative skills as she describes. Teachers, parents, and students will find useful, challenging, and interesting new tools to use in school and throughout life.
